A Decade Of Deception

A few days ago, a memory popped up on Facebook. It was ten years to the day that I took my first booking as a professional magician. It ended up being my third or maybe fourth actual gig, but it was the first booked. Apparently I was 'Buzzin!’

I was asked to go and meet a couple who were marrying in November of that year, at a hotel in my hometown. This hotel, which would also be the venue of the wedding reception, was only a fifteen minute walk from my house, so I strolled down and arrived early, got myself a diet cola and waited.

My leg was shaking as it always does when I'm sat waiting for anything, and the pockets of my black suit jacket (straight from Asda) were bulging with magic tricks. I also had my ‘cool’ new photos on my phone, ready to show them if they asked (they didn't).

The couple arrived and asked me if they could see something, just to reassure them that they were hiring an actual magician… I ended up showing them everything 🙄😂

Luckily, they did go ahead with the booking and I charged them the princely sum of £70 for two hours. The gig itself went great and everyone got involved and enjoyed the magic and laughs.

I'll write a longer post at some point, all about my last ten years in entertainment. But it might have to be in installments.
