The Wrong Road

I recently had one of those Sundays…

I performed my colleges’s magic and ventriloquism show in Biggar, a nice little town about eleven miles from my home. It went great. The adults were laughing as much as the kids, and everyone was happy by the end. I did have to rush off as I had another party to get to, in Rutherglen, near Glasgow.

So, I got in the car, punched the address into my phone, took that info and put it into my satnav. And I thought ‘It'll take an hour and ten minutes to get there? I thought it would be about 50 minutes… Oh well,’ and off I went.

I drove along county roads, the whole time thinking it was a funny way to go, but ‘it must be taking me the back roads' , and I drove for almost forty minutes before I passed a landmark I recognised. And I recognised it as being nowhere near where I should be.

I pulled over and looked at my phone, double checking the address… It was wrong. Completely wrong! I was heading to Peebles, 50 miles from where I wanted to be!

So, one panicked, apologetic phone call later, I was in my way to the gig. I got there, half an hour later than planned, but hey, at least the show went well 🙈
