They Want You To Succeed

Imagine you are sitting in a packed theatre. You have front row seats for your favourite show and after everyone is sat comfortably, the lights go down and the star of the show walks on stage.

They seem different to how you remember. They're sweating, looking at their feet a lot, fidgeting and forgetting the words to the performance pieces. There's no nice way to put it, this is a bad show.

What would you do? You might be polite and offer some light applause, but you would feel disappointed and you might even ask for a refund. Or maybe you'll just complain about it to anyone who asks how it was, and leave an online review.

However you react, you'll probably feel a bit cheated, or worse yet, you'll feel sorry for the act. That's the last thing they want. Trust me.

When people go to see a performance, they want to enjoy it. If you give a performance, they want you to do well.

It doesn't have to be onstage either. It can be a presentation at work, a speech at a friends wedding or reading something out to others.

Your audience wants to feel entertained/satisfied/informed by the end of it. Always remember that. No one wants to give their time to see you fail. It's in their best interest to see you succeed.

So go succeed.
