Jim Henson and The Muppets

My kids and family shows took a drastic turn for the better when I introduced my puppet characters. Chester the chimp, Harris the tortoise and the others are the main source of comedy, and the best part is, to the young children, these characters are real!

This is how I have always felt about The Muppets. Kermit, Big Bird, Gonzo, etc have always been real to me. The way they look, move and interact with humans is immersive.

When Jim Henson created his characters, he knew he wanted to work with them for the rest of his life, but he could not have known how huge they would become.

He did however, realise the importance of making his puppets seem real and if I'm ever in doubt about my puppet work, or need inspiration, I can find it easily in any of The Muppet movies, shows or Sesame Street.

Also, this picture is one of my favourites, ever.
