Social Media Magic
I know a lot of performers have issues with magic on YouTube or on Tiktok, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.
I do think it's a bad thing for people to go onto these platforms, or other social media networks and show how a truck is done. What's the point in that?!
Is it to show how clever you are?
Is it because you think magic should be exposed as a ‘sham’ (even though you believe psychics who have access to all of your online information)?
Or is it because you know it will generate likes? These likes mean nothing, and in ten years from now, they'll still mean nothing. But hey, you do you. I just find it pointless.
Why ruin magic for anyone? I don't mean other magicians. I mean kids who have must've just seen their first magic trick and experienced that incredible feeling of wonder… only for you to instantly take it away from them.
But, you know, if it gets you an animation of a thumbs up on a platform which wouldn't exist forever, then good for you.
