World Book Day

In this last week we have seen World Book Day, with lots of great recommendations and kids dressed up as their favourite literary characters.

I grew up devouring books. Anything I could read, I would. I still love reading today, but I honestly feel like mobile phones and social media have made me lazy when it comes to reading. I still want the knowledge and enjoyment that comes from a good book, but sometimes I have to get myself into the right mood, otherwise I will read a free pages and then feel the need to check my phone. Check for what? I don't know. If I get a call or a message, my phone will ring or at least vibrate, to let me know. So now, I try to put my phone away for a while if I want to enjoy reading.

Anyway, some of my personal favourite books are…

  • The Life Of Pi by Yann Martel - A truly exciting and emotional journey. I was quite saddened when it was later made into a movie

  • The Twits by Roald Dahl - This night be the first book that made me laugh out loud

  • Dracula by Bram Stoker - No movie or dramatisation comes close to the original novel

  • The Godfather by Mario Puzo - This displays world building and character development at their finest

  • Heart Of Darkness by Joseph Conrad - A short story, but compelling. Often imitated, never duplicated

  • You Can Have An Amazing Memory by Dominic O'Brien - The title speaks the truth

Let me know what your favourites are in the comments. And let me know if you have the same problem as me.
