There's Practice, And Then There's Practice!
Becoming a magician isn't just sitting in your bedroom practising the best way to find a chosen card. There's a lot more to it than that.
Right from the start, I've been good at one thing; actual practice.
What I mean is, I would (and still do) spend a bit of time in front of a mirror, or filming what I'm doing to make sure I can actually do it. Some things take minutes to master, other things take decades… but I don't do those ones 😂
When I say actual practice though, I mean I go out and perform to real people. I don't think a trick has to be absolutely perfect to entertain people… as long as they don't know it's not absolutely perfect.
Practicing actual performance in pubs, at parties and just for friends, is so much more important than the usual lonely, obsessive shuffling and shuffling and shuffling and… yawn.
Let people see what you do! They'll enjoy it, you'll start to get bookings and you'll just get better and better. That's a definite.
The only way to get good at magic (or, in fact anything), is to do it, so go and do it!
