Influence

It takes me no time at all to think of those who have influenced what I do and how I do it. From legendary magicians such as Fred Kaps and Lance Burton, to all round entertainers like Bruce Springsteen and Jim Henson and even literary geniuses from Roald Dahl to Rod Serling, I find inspiration in their offerings.

The best thing of all though, is the fact that what I do makes an impact, and I often get to see it. I have attended parties where the whole theme has been based upon ‘the magic man’, and there have been times when I've been at a party, or leaving a show where I witness the kids playing together, pretending to be the magician. These are the ones that matter. It means a lot to me when a little boy or girl is irrelevant to have the magical powers I've been displaying, or when one of them is acting as Chester the cheeky monkey.

This ‘Magic Man’ may never have an action figure made of him, or get to show his stuff on TV, but reaching out and opening the imagination of a child? That'll do for me.

Let me know in the comments section, who are your biggest influences, and why?
