Hitting A Slump

A few years ago, I hit a slump in magic. I was out every weekend gigging. Making people smile and laugh, but I wasn't really enjoying it as much as I should have been.

I was going through the motions and it was starting to come across in my performances.

So I stopped. Not for long, but I did take as many days of the week off from magic. I played guitar, I read, I got stuck into a video game… and it helped a little. It stopped the magic burnout at least.

But what really helped was changing things up. I threw out almost my whole set, and replaced every trick or effect with a new alternative.

And everything changed! Everything was new and exciting again! I couldn't wait to get out there and share the magic again.

So if you're in a slump, change things up… you never know, it could reignite your passion!
